  • Albury Run

On the 14th of April the RTC (Mick, Steph and Cureana, Denise, Lincon,Tyrone and Graham) travelled from Wagga to Albury for a day of family fun.

The Club met up with Jared and Bec at the Lavington shell servo. They had in tow a yellow LH (Steve) and a green 4 door Munaro (Graham).
We set of for our first destination which was Noreuil park via Dean street (the main street of Albury). On our way into town we picked up a purple torana that joined our procession.

When we arrived at Noreuil park we realised that there was a school holiday event on but luckily we found just enough space to fit all the cars and the extra cars that Jared and Bec had managed to round up from the local area, which included a smick blue LJ (Travis), the earlier mentioned purple LH?, 2 green XU1’s and of course the the monaro and yellow torana. Damo and Karen met us at the park. Overall that was a great turnout especially considering the previous run we had done to Albury. Throughout the time we were at the park people drifted over from the other event to have a look at all of the cars and some stopped for a bit of torrie talk.

After we had the cars on display for about 2 hours the club and the people who felt like some extra social time travelled across to the Twin City’s Tenpin Bowling Centre in Wodonga.  The club was allocated an area to display our vehicles and everyone who was participating in the day was given a voting slip for a People’s Choice Award. The winner was Travis with his beautiful LJ and he received a trophy which the Twin Cities Bowling Center kindly donated.

The real rivalry started when the pins started to drop. The boys where very competitive with Damo, Graeme and Mick all trying to outdo each other. With a trophy up for grabs for best bowler and the extra competition from ring-in Rod (Rebecca’s dad) the game heated up!

After a blitzing first game or as some were saying the warm up round, everyone sat down for a delicious roast meal, with Bec happy to be finally eating.

Game 2 was full on. Damo, Jared and Rod had amazing games and everyone had a ball with one team using the bumper stoppers (Damo, Cureana, Steph & Steve). Bec decided to show off by bowling through her legs- scoring a strike. We started thinking she should have been doing it all game.
At the end of the night, scores from both games were tallied and Damo was announced as the winner by a mere 3 or so points from Rod and Jared trailing by an extra point.

We then started the trip home taking a short detour to check out Jared and Rebecca’s new house.

All in all it was a great day and enjoyed by all who participated and we hope that it can become an annual event.
